Counseling Intern
February 16th, 2018Family advocacy interns provide ongoing support and assistance to children and families experiencing the trauma of abuse.
Advocates meet with the family on an ongoing basis to offer referrals, services, information and assistance with housing, domestic violence, safety concerns, mental health, educational issues, employment, financial assistance and food and clothing needs.
Family advocacy interns are required to be a junior or senior social work, psychology or criminal justice student from an accredited program
Internship Requirements:
- All students will have an in-person interview.
- Students must pass criminal and CPS background checks.
- Students are required to participate in one hour per week of individual supervision with their assigned supervisor.
- Students must be willing and able to see adults and children of all ages in individual, family and group treatment.
- Students are required to a DCAC orientation during their internship.
- Students must have their own liability insurance, either through their University or purchased independently.
