While there is no one thing we can do to guarantee our children will be safe from abuse, there are things we can do to decrease the likelihood of abuse and improve our response to it.

To protect children from abuse, both children and adults need to be educated.  Our trained facilitators offer trainings to professionals, parents and youth serving organizations across North Dakota. The crime of abuse is real.

Training Opportunities

My Body Belongs to Me

Teaches preschool children about OK and not-OK touches, and telling someone if anyone touches them in a way that is not okay.  Children will learn skills to take care of their bodies because their bodies belong to them. Sexual offenders take advantage of a child’s lack of knowledge about their body and sexual abuse. “My Body Belongs to Me” helps make kids less vulnerable to sexual abuse by educating them.

Safe Environments Trainings

Children should be given tools of prevention including age-appropriate information about child abuse, a desire to protect themselves, and the power to tell the truth to adults. Safe Environments Training offer school age kids information and skills to keep their bodies safe. We offer programs for grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8 and 9-12.

Stewards of Children

This is a revolutionary, interactive, evidence-based child sexual abuse prevention training program developed by Darkness to Light, a national child sexual abuse prevention organization. Stewards of Children educates adults to take simple, proactive steps to protect children from sexual abuse, including how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly. The DCAC has facilitators trained in Stewards of Children.

Trauma and Problematic Sexual Behaviors

Discovering problematic sexual behavior in youth can be stressful and shocking. “Trauma and Problematic Sexual Behavior” is a one and a half hour training that introduces you to problematic sexual behaviors, how to respond to them and what we can do to help kids engaging in problematic sexual behaviors.  This training will also cover common myths and effective treatment.

Please see our events page for an updated list of scheduled trainings.

If your organization or agency is interested in receiving any of these trainings, or you would like the DCAC to customize training for you, please contact the DCAC at (701) 323-5626 or opens in a new windowinfo@dakotacac.org.
